Since its launch in 2018, the Ayushman Bharat health insurance initiative has facilitated hospital admissions for over 91.9 million patients, with expenditures reaching ₹1,29,386 crores for their treatment. Dialysis cases have been the most prevalent among these treatments, according to official statistics.
As per the National Health Authority's annual report for 2024-25, more than 404.5 million Ayushman cards have been issued, covering approximately 146.9 million families. Hemodialysis has emerged as the most frequently utilized treatment, accounting for 14% of the cases.
The report highlights that 31,005 hospitals have been incorporated into the scheme, with a distribution of 55% public and 45% private facilities, ensuring nationwide accessibility of the program.
Furthermore, it notes that 82% of the beneficiaries hail from rural areas, with 94% possessing Aadhaar-verified cards, which enhances authenticity and inclusivity.
